Q: Where did you learn to paint?
A: I have a Master's Degree in Architecture and a Minor in Art from the University of Idaho. But my education did not end there! I also have a rich artistic educational background from various avenues.
Q: What paint colors and tools do you use?A: I use oils because we know each other best after all these years :-) My complete palette and supply list can be found on the Tool Kit page. These colors are my foundation list, but I do try to experiment with different colors and brands from time to time.
Q: Do you only paint with oils?
A: As an artist I enjoy experimenting other mediums. Albeit, I am most comfortable with oils, I do enjoy sketching, painting in gauche and pastels.
Q: What type of lighting is in your studio?
A: Natural lighting from my north facing window provides the best lighting throughout the day. This is a cool temperature of light, ideal for seeing most colors and detail of my still life. Otherwise, I use a 5500 kelvin-temperature fluorescent bulb to duplicate the temperature of natural light. I use only warm incandescent bulbs for reading, sketching or playing with clay.
Q: Do you have more work available than what I see on your website?
A: Yes, I do and I'm always creating more! Add yourself to my VIP list to get the latest work, work in progress and exhibitions.
Q: Do you do commission work?
A: Yes, I will take commissions. Please contact me for more information. 50% down is the unusual rate to get started.
Q: Why do some paintings ship unstretched?
A: Any work with a side greater then 48" requires shipment in a crate. Because these crates are expensive to build and ship, I choose to ship larger works rolled and unstretched. Your painting will be carefully rolled and packed in a tube with the appropriate sized stretchers. A local framer can easily stretch your painting at a much lower cost then shipping it stretched and crated.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: I ship worldwide. Packaging and shipping is free in the contiguous United States. For locations outside the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, please contact me for more information. I can work with you in costs in shipping however, there maybe import taxes, customs tariffs and fees levied by the destination country or the shipping company. These charges are the collector's responsibility and will be billed by the delivery company in order for the collector to take possession of the painting. Tarriffs and taxes are political and out of my control. They are not part of the purchase price.
